On December 5, 2020, PTC Outreach hosted a workshop on UI/UX design, short for user interface and user experience, respectively. These areas of design have experienced a large influx of popularity and demand in the past few years with the growth of social media and the internet, and as such we feel it is important for everyone to be cognizant of the ways in which UI/UX design shapes our world around us, both online and offline. Our workshop, featuring Taha Hossain, a product designer that has interned at Facebook, Palantir and Konrad, and worked with Ueno, Voyage, Snapchat, and Ycombinator, showed how the designers in tech create the accessible and intuitive interfaces and experiences we use on a daily basis, by introducing the basics of UI/UX design and what unintuitive versus intuitive designs looked like.
