Shirley is an undergraduate Computer Science student at the University of British Columbia. She is currently completing her co-op at Ericsson as a Software Tools Developer, learning about the newest cutting-edge technologies in the market. A STEM enthusiast who has always loved to get involved with science and tech outreach initiatives, she is incredibly excited to join the PTC Board as Head of Outreach. She’s happy to talk about anything tech, music and vinyl, culture/news podcasts, or where you can find the best coffee in town.
Workshop & Curriculum Coordinator
Shkula is a Computer Science student at the University of Ottawa and is passionate about helping others explore the world of programming and all its coolest applications! Her plans for this summer include a co-op term at Health Canada. When she’s not studying, she’s playing field hockey with her school’s field hockey club, tutoring elementary students in math and science, or exploring new parts of the city on her bike. She loves spending time outside in nature, dabbling in interior design, making her friends laugh and tending to her numerous plants.
Farishtay is currently in 1st year, Software Engineering at Carleton University. She is passionate about robotics and aspires to be a Software Engineer. Her interest in engineering arose after her co-op placement in Ericsson, here in Ottawa. In Ericsson, she learned various software innovation techniques and 5G testing. From her experiences at co-op and organizing events it led to her interest as an Outreach Committee member at PTC. Her responsibilities in this role are to organize, promote and reach out to sponsors in all regions of PTC. By working in PTC she aims to give students the exposure to STEM fields and their future career pathway.
Angela is a senior at Earl of March Secondary School. Ever since learning Java in grade 10, she has since went on to learn and become proficient in C++, HTML, CSS, Python, and Swift. She hopes to continue furthering her coding skills and is currently exploring machine learning. Her responsibilities include developing Outreach curriculum and overseeing the regional Outreach Directors. Through PTC, Angela aims to provide to youth tech opportunities, especially to underrepresented communities in the industry. In her free time, she loves to teach Java, listen to music, and spend time with friends.
